Joan Orengo
Mentor Ojuang’ Joan Orengo, a University of Nairobi Graduate of a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts and Design (Product Design), is an upcoming Industrial Designer who enjoys creative design across all available media but will take any opportunity to learn and understand what it is that people would want to have at hand. When she is not designing, you’ll find her volunteering at her local humane society, as a mentor of adolescents and the youth in the aim of giving them hope and ensuring that they have someone close to them who can guide them through the life choices that they may intend to make. Joan is also a performing artist in Zindua Jamii dance troupe under U-Tena Youth Organization. She uses her skills of dancing for entertainment and acting to raise awareness about issues related to sexual and reproductive health in communities with low levels of literacy and increased vulnerability to HIV, STIs, and other sexual health complications stemming from socio-political circumstances such as poverty. Joan’s hobbies include traveling and reading. She also enjoys drawing still images, portraits generally pencil art. She has also recently developed an interest in photography and creative invention of sculptures with scrap metal. |
