Ruben FM Tournament
AstraZeneca’s young health program, U-Tena also partners with Ruben FM (a community radio station) in ongoing tournaments targeting the youths within the informal settlements of Mukuru. This aims at creating awareness on NCD and other health related issues affecting the young people within Mukuru slums and its environs. The tournament bring more than 1500 youths together (Players and fans) from the informal settlements of Mukuru. After the tournament, youths are engaged on risk factors of non-communicable diseases and referred for screening at government health facilities and access Afya clinics. Some of the games are broadcasted live by the radio hence using the opportunity to more than 10,000 people at a go on how to prevent and manage non communicable diseases among the youth. The tournaments are running up to the last week of November, 2019.
